Susan G Komen South Florida 2019 Race for the Cure in West Palm Beach

On Saturday, January 26, 2019, Susan G. Komen® South Florida hosted their 2019 Race for the Cure® in West Palm Beach, Fla. Jet Fresh Flower Distributors® was a proud sponsor of the event as part of our Blooms for Boobs initiative, raising awareness for breast cancer with fresh-cut flowers. We provided fresh pink flowers for their event along with roses from our own farm, Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A.

It was a wet and chilly Saturday in South Florida as the event was rainy. The race took place in Centennial Park followed by the outdoor ceremony at the Meyer Amphitheater. The event may have been affected by the weather, but everyone who attended didn’t let it get in their way. Perhaps the flowers brightened the gloomy day.

“Jet Fresh Flowers was a tremendous hit at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure,” said Nancy Sailer, warrior and breast cancer survivor for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Jet Fresh Flower Distributors sponsored the flowers for Susan G. Komen South Florida’s Survivor Pink Ribbon Cafe as well as the Survivor’s Recognition Ceremony. We sponsored this event last year, and we we were happy to contribute again.

The Survivor’s Recognition Ceremony held during Susan G Komen’s Race for the Cure is an important annual event recognizing those who survived breast cancer. Every survivor was represented on stage holding their own flower. Jet Fresh proudly sponsored the ceremony donating fresh-cut roses, and was honored to have the opportunity to supply roses from our own rose farm in Ecuador.

“Everyone said they had never seen such beautiful hot pink roses,” said Sailer.

For every recipient who would appear on stage on stage, they received our hot pink “Cherry Oh” roses from our farm, Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. “When they all arrived on stage it became a sea of roses,” said Sailer. “How amazing is that.”

We loved the feedback from our “Cherry Oh” roses. They’re really an impressive variety from our farm, grown 2,896 meters above sea level in Cotopaxi. This hot pink rose variety has bright reddish tones with a large head size measuring 7 – 7.2cm long.

Sailer and her daughter worked together to prep and clean the roses two days before the event. Sailer was especially happy with the quality of the roses, and appreciated that there weren’t any thorns to clean. “And with such strong stems, they were perfect,” said Sailer.
