On April 12, 2019, Jet Fresh Flower Distributors paid a wonderful visit to Rosa Flora Limited in Ontario, Canada, where we were given a tour of their state-of-the-art facility where they grow some of the best flowers in the world.
We recently became the proud authorized distributor of their high quality flowers including Gerbera Daisies, Lisianthus, Snap Dragons, Stock and more. We brought a special guest along for the occasion: our infamous Gerbera Guy.
Rosa Flora Limited is an impressive farm with 1.9 million square feet of greenhouses and growing, a fleet of 20 refrigerated trucks, and a cooler of over 35,000 square feet.
JFTV: Rosa Flora Limited Farm Visit
Rosa Flora Limited grows a wide variety of Gerbera Daisies available at Jet Fresh Flower Distributors for wholesale and events. They grow an incredible amount of Standard and Mini Gerberas in many different varieties; as well as Spider Gerberas and Gerpom, aka Gerrondo Gerbera Daisies.
Rosa Flora Limited Canadian Gerbera Daisies are packed in 10-stem bunches using cards to perfectly lay gerbera daisies facing the same direction. These bunches are packed upright and shipped in water to improve vase life and performance.
Flowers from Rosa Flora Limited arrive straight to us in Miami shipped on a refrigerated truck. This great efficiency means there are ZERO breaks in the cold chain reducing quality issues and diseases that can be caused from breaks in the cold chain.
Gerpom/gerrondo gerbera daisies
Rosa Flora Limited grows lovely Gerpom, or Gerrondo Gerbera Daisies. This novelty species has a ball shape with a thicker head compared to standard gerbera daisies. Gerpom, or gerrondo gerbera daisies have similar characteristics to some dahlias and cremon balls, making it an excellent substite with more colors to choose from for wholesale and events.
Spider gerbera daisies
Rosa Flora Limited also grows beautiful Canadian Spider Gerbera Daisies in an assortment of colors for wholesale and special events. Seeing these wild flowers up close was a real pleasure in so many different colors.
Not only are we the proud distributors of Rosa Flora Limited’s Canadian Gerbera Daisies, but we’re also distributing their high quality Lisianthus, Stephanotis, Stock and more. Check out just some of the highlights from our tour.
Rosa Flora Limited is a 2nd-generation Christian family-owned farm, that combines good values with efficient growing practices to develop quality flowers with the utmost care.
This environmentally conscious company is fully sustainable using innovative growing techniques with high-tech similar to Dutch-grown flowers.
In 2006, Rosa Flora Limited received recognition from The Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservative (CIPEC) on becoming an Industrial Energy Innovator reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency.
“In 2006, Rosa Flora installed and commissioned a German engineered PWE650 wind turbine, able to produce 615kW of electricity per kWh. The electricity is delivered directly into the Rosa Flora system and offsets electricity required from the Ontario grid.”
According to Rosa Flora, “Water is an essential part of their growing cycle, requiring significant investments in storage and treatment.
The greenhouse roof structure is designed to catch all the precipitation that falls and directs it to the large holding ponds onsite. As the plants are watered, they are also fertilized.
To get the most out of our fertilizers, they reuse all the water that drains from our pots in an elaborate catchment system. The water is cleaned through on site wetlands and filtered carefully before being used once again.”
Rosa Flora Limited also sources wood that is destined for landfill, and converts that waste into usable woodchips to heat their greenhouses. When wood is burned, the proper amount of CO2 is released, as the trees have absorbed during the course of their life. Heating with wood is called CO2 neutral, which they have plenty.
Their advanced biomass systems are equipped with high tech controls and safety devices for reliable, efficient and safe operation.
We can’t thank Rosa Flora Limited enough for their warm hospitality, showing us around their incredible farm and spending the entire day with us.
It was such a pleasure meeting and spending time with their team and learning about all the love and care that goes into their flowers. We thank you for sharing all your knowledge and expertise with us, as well as your incredible products!
We look forward to whats in store for the future!
