Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. received ribbons for all their roses varieties submitted to SAF’s 2018 Outstanding Varieties Competition.
On September 13, 2018 the Society of American Florists (SAF) announced the winners of the 2018 Outstanding Varieties Competition at their Annual Convention which was held this year in Palm Springs, Calif.
Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. received ribbons for all of the varieties entered into the rose category. They earned a blue ribbon for their rose variety, “Milva,” by the breeder, Tantau. And two red ribbons for their roses, “Avant Garde” and “Encanto” both by the breeder, NIRP. These entries were submitted by Jet Fresh Flower Distributors in Miami, Fla.

Michael Black, president and owner of Jet Fresh Flower Distributors and Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A., is extremely proud of his team for helping the farm get to this point of recognition in less than a year.
“I’m very proud to see that we entered three varieties and earned ribbons for all,” said Black.
OVC Red Ribbon Winner: “Avant Garde”
Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. was recently established in March 1, 2018 where they became official growers for the first time. Since acquiring the rose farm in Cotopaxi, Ecuador, they’ve made great improvements to the farm’s production which have significantly improved the quality of their roses to be categorized with world-class farms and domestic growers.
“I’m also very proud to see our new name as a grower amongst the most prestigious and established farms and Miami importers,” Black said.
OVC Red Ribbon Winner: “Encanto”
The sky’s the limit for Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A., a small company that’s doing very big things.
In the timeframe which they’ve earned these awards, Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. has planted several new rose varieties including “Sandy,” “Finally” and “Lighthouse;” with even more coming soon. And they’ve also built their twelfth greenhouse which will house 10 different varieties, supplying even more quality roses worldwide.
“This inspires me to work harder and try even more,” said Black. “This tells me we are headed in the right direction.”
