On March 17, 2019 Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale had their 4th Annual More Than Pink Luncheon to raise funds supporting the fight against breast cancer.
This year their event raised $24,368.00 to help fund breast cancer education, screening and treatment in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Support also went towards the National Grants Program, “which funds cutting edge breast cancer research in the race to find the causes and cures for breast cancer,” according to Sherri Martens-Curtis, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.
The luncheon honored the Faces of a Warrior 2018-2019 Mentorship Group, which are “all survivors and metastatic thrivers who have so courageously fought breast cancer.” The Faces of a Warrior Mentorship Program, launched by Susan G. Komen Miami/ Ft. Lauderdale invites men and women to share their stories; from their breast cancer diagnosis to how they thrived after it. This year 15 mentors were recognized.
Jet Fresh Flower Distributors in Miami, Fla. proudly donated flowers for their celebration of life and fundraising event taken place on St. Patrick’s Day at the Hyatt Regency in Coral Gables. As a part of our Blooms for Boobs initiative, to help support the battle against breast cancer, we supplied a variety of fresh-cut flowers to be used for table arrangements and corsages, designed by our customer Flowers by Pouparina. Flowers by Pouparina has graciously donated her time to this event for four years in a row, supporting a cause that’s very dear to her heart.
This year’s floral theme incorporated pink with green floral accents which were perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. She used “Hot Paris” roses as her bright focal flower, and toned it down with our lighter pink “Faith” roses from our farm, Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. Antique hydrangeas, featuring a lovely mixture of green and pink petals, filled the arrangements and were filled with Pink Veronica, Italian Ruscus and Bear Grass.
Mini White Calla Lilies balanced out the arrangements, and were also used in their corsages, too.
Big thanks to Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale for their incredible work towards the fight against breast cancer. For information about Susan G Komen’s Miami/Ft. Lauderdale chapter, and to help support their organization please visit their KomenMiaFtl.com.
