#FreshInspiration is back with a new centerpiece that will put you on your feet. “The Bloom Box,” by our marketing Director, Ryan Black, is a fun, colorful work of art featuring preserved flowers from Jet Fresh Flower Distributors.
Spring has sprung, and although we’re social distancing, we’re staying inspired and using preserved flowers to create long-lasting floral designs.
Flowers as well as music have the ability to heal people spiritually. During these difficult times, Ryan thought this would be a fun piece to inspire, incorporating these two powerful sources.
Using a boom box that lights up like this one was so clever to decorate with flowers. The boom box is a classic party piece that gets overlooked — until now.
This custom-made boom box was built specifically to have a flat floral canvas. Rather than being covered with buttons and curved edges, this custom piece has all the buttons located in the back, and freedom to design on a leveled surface.
Although the boom box weighs about 35 lbs, it’s not because of the flowers!
What’s always great about designing with preserved flowers is that you don’t need water. Once you take those electrical concerns out of the equation, the design possibilities are endless.
With amazing colors and textures, preserved flowers have the great benefit of outlasting fresh flowers so your work can be reused. Preserved flowers last a minimum one year-long; but with proper care, and minimum lighting and handling, preserved flower designs can last years.

“The Bloom Box” was designed with a variety of preserved flowers available from Jet Fresh Flower Distributors in Miami, Fla.
This fresh floral mix features a great amount of Japanese Preserved Flowers including roses, garden roses, sunflowers, gardenias, zinnias, dendrobium orchids, and more. Ask your sales rep about all the great Japanese preserved flower options available.
The preserved flowers were applied using a hot glue gun. A base of preserved foliage from Rose Amor were laid throughout the boom box and attached prior to applying preserved flowers.
If you’re not sure how you’re going to design, it helps to lay out the flowers first and then take a photo to recreate. Ryan tried out different looks from clusters to full coverage, and in the end, he went with the full coverage. It came out great!
